Héctor Pérez, often known as Héctor Lavoe, was a Puerto Rican salsa singer who lived from 30 September 1946 to 29 June 1993. Because he contributed to the rise in popularity of this musical style during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, Lavoe is regarded as arguably the best and most significant singer and interpreter in the history of salsa music. In the 1970s and 1980s, he enjoyed a tremendous artistic career across the entire spectrum of Latin music and salsa thanks to his personality, flair, and vocal abilities. He became one of the Latin public’s favorite singers thanks to his clear and bright voice, perfect diction, and capacity for singing long, quick phrases with complete naturalness.

The sister of Héctor Lavoe is Norma Pérez. In the independent Puerto Rican municipality of Ponce, Lavoe was born on September 30, 1946. He was raised in a low-income household made up of his mother Francisca Martnez, also known as Panchita, his sister Priscilla, and his father Luis Pérez, who they affectionately referred to as Lucho. One of the worst blows to the singer’s life was when his mother passed away when he was only 3 years old.
